Yep, Leisa I've always felt that way. But I feel there is something different with Obama. He's not perfect, and says many times that he's not, but he's good enough to make me start to shed my cynicism.

on a total aside, my cousin has a friend in the secret service who says that Obama is by far the nicest politician he's worked for. Meaningless data, but interesting nonetheless.

I hate to say admit that I am as cynical as Noble Savage. It seems a candidate will do or say ANYTHING before elections, but then drops the ball once in office. I'm tired of politics--I want a leader I can believe in.

I wish, too, NS. But the point of the entry was not to speak of him as a politician, but to show my admiration for someone who has had so much success in this election by empowering people and getting people excited and hopeful about politics again (myself included). Without even getting elected I've felt he's given me a sense of pride and hope.

I wish my icy, realist heart would melt because I really do like Obama but I guess I haven't been touched by the 'hope' yet. I'm too cynical to believe that anything a politician says or does isn't just an elaborate ruse to get elected. If Obama is chosen and wins, I hope I'm proved wrong. But until I see the proof before me, I will still guard my doubt as a means of self-preservation.

Very nicely said regarding hope and all that has come to dissuade voters to trust in anyones words running for office.

The big question seems to be if the political-corporate machinery will ever listen to the publics will from the bottom up.

However, there is a strange prudence in not giving up on our civilization and the problems we face.

Solutions do not come from saying you have them, but from the many willing to lend a hand to the answer.

Thanks for your apparent honest appraisal of heart and mind.
